Greek Cruise Lines
Large Ships

A Large Size Ship From The Norwegian Cruise Line

Greek Cruise Lines - Large Ships
There are literally dozens of Greek cruise lines offering a myriad of cruise options, and of course it would be extremely difficult to make any attempt at listing them all here.

Therefore, we have chosen a number of the better known cruise lines and perhaps one or two which may be new to you.

If you need any help in making your choice, or finding something more specific to your requirements, please complete the form at the bottom of the page and we will glad to be of help.

Alternatively, you may want to consider a cruise on either a
mid-size ship, a small ship or even some kind of sailing ship with a much different kind of Greek cruise line.

Have a good mooch around before deciding on which Greek cruise line you would like to cruise with !

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Lines' ships are called the 'Fun Ships', and the action onboard any of the Carnival cruise ships is non-stop and full of high-spirited active fun. Carnival is the largest and most successful Greek cruise line afloat, and the lifestyle is much like you would find in Las Vegas -- glitzy and fast-paced. Carnival markets its ships to the average person, and does not promise a luxury cruise experience. The quality of the cabins, cuisine, and entertainment is of good value for the price What is it about Carnival that separates them from the rest? For starters, their fleet of 22 "Fun Ships" features everything you would find in a quality land-based resort and then some.

Celebrity Cruise Line
The Cruise Ship Constellation

Celebrity does an excellent job of combining large contemporary ships with traditional cruising. First-time or experienced cruisers looking for good service and cuisine along with large ship entertainment at a great value will enjoy a Celebrity ship. Celebrity is owned by Royal Caribbean International, but provides a more deluxe product . Only those who do not like large cruise ships or who want a truly adventurous cruise vacation will be disappointed in Celebrity. Many Celebrity passengers are moderately affluent and well-educated. Most are adults, but families with children and teens also enjoy Celebrity. Although some Celebrity passengers are first-time cruisers, many are experienced travellers who appreciate quality and value and have sailed with Celebrity or another cruise line before. Ages range from 30s to 60s in high season, younger in the low season. Most Celebrity passengers get what they are looking for--something better than standard cruising.

Costa Cruise Line
The Cruise Ship Concordia

'Cruising Italian Style' is Costa's motto, and this mainstream Greek cruise line markets to both the European and North American markets. Much like its parent cruise line, Carnival, Costa promises 'fun' cruises, but with a European ambience. If you love Italians; a casual, friendly, party atmosphere; lots of excitement; and Italian food; then Costa might be a good choice for you. Costa has 12 large, diverse cruise ships that sail Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. Many of the older ships have been renovated many times. Costa's passengers vary with the cruise location--North Americans in the Caribbean and Europeans in Europe and the rest of the world. Although the ships are geared towards a young, active crowd, the average Costa cruiser is middle-aged and an experienced traveller who might not want to cruise on an all-American megaliner. Costa is a favorite honeymoon option for young Italian newlyweds, so you might find a hint of romance in the air! Of course, since many Europeans smoke, there may also be a hint of tobacco!

Cunard Cruise Line

Cunard is all about tradition, and passengers on Cunard enjoy classic ocean liners with formal service and many amenities. Cunard is the only major Greek cruise line that still maintains different 'classes' on its ships. Passengers in the higher priced cabins and suites have separate restaurants than the rest of the passengers. The ships are designed as floating resorts to transport passengers in style across the Atlantic; therefore, there are plenty of activities and special features onboard. Cunard's brand name and tradition attracts a wide variety of passengers of all ages. You will find first-time cruisers and those who have sailed many times. Most of the passengers are American or British, but many Europeans also cruise on the QE2 and QM2. The QE2 has single cabins, the QM2 does not. Ships are well suited for singles or couples. People who enjoy elegant surroundings and style will enjoy Cunard's ships. Those looking for a casual, laid-back atmosphere will not .

Norwegian Cruise Line
The Cruise Ship 'Pride of Aloha'

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is a cruise line for everyone--a true mainstream line. The fleet is diverse, but all the ships are contemporary. The parent cruise line is Star Cruises, and NCL also operates three ships in Hawaii with all-American crews under the NCL America brand. NCL introduced the flexible 'freestyle dining' concept. NCL is a good choice for families or first time, active cruisers who are budget-conscious. NCL cruises are well-suited for families and young-at-heart, active cruisers who enjoy a large ship atmosphere with flexible dining options. It is not marketed as a five-star experience, so cruisers should not expect exceptional service, cuisine, or amenities seen on luxury ships. However, the NCL ships have plenty of activities, good worldwide itineraries, and provide a good overall cruise experience for the mass market cruiser. Most passengers are from the U.S. or Canada.

Princess Cruise Line
The Cruise Ship 'Sun Princess'

Princess Cruises offers a quality product in a mainstream Greek cruise line. Its ships appeal to all ages, and the interests and incomes of the passengers can vary widely. Most of the ships fall into the large ship category. Princess is the original love boat, but passengers should not expect to find this TV show on Princess cruise ships. The well-organized Princess was originally a British cruise line, and the ships have a better passenger to space ratio than Carnival or Royal Caribbean. This particular Greek cruise line is well-suited for couples, families, and older singles. Active cruisers who enjoy a large ship atmosphere with clean, pleasant surroundings at an affordable price will enjoy Princess. Princess passengers come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and income brackets. Younger passengers tend to be found on the shorter Caribbean itineraries, while the older, more affluent frequent the exotic destinations. All in all, Princess has a very diverse, loyal clientele .

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line

The cruise line that delivers the 'Wow!' and the one that put a surfing simulator, rock-climbing walls, ice-skating rinks and other innovative amenities on cruise ships. Whether you've sailed with them before or just seen the ads, you may have the sense that they're not your average cruise line. With more than 170 destinations worldwide and an amazing array of exciting shore excursions and cruisetour options, they reach out to holiday makers eager to try something new. Royal Caribbean International has implemented stringent environmental practices and procedures that help preserve the world's oceans. The company created the Ocean Fund, which supports marine conservation organisations in their efforts to preserve the ecosystems of the world's oceans. Since the fund began in 1996, they've awarded almost $10 million to 52 organisations involved in marine conservation research, education and innovative technologies.
As I have stated at the beginning of the page, this is by no means an exhaustive list of Greek cruise lines, it is simply a random selection put together to provide visitors some idea of what's available. I do hope it gave you a little inspiration and maybe it has been of some help.
