Greek Cruise Lines

A Sailing Ship From The Star Clippers Cruise Line

There are literally dozens of Greek cruise lines offering a myriad of cruise options, and of course it would be extremely difficult to make any attempt at listing them all here.

Therefore, we have chosen a number of the better known cruise lines and perhaps one or two which may be new to you.

If you need any help in making your choice, or finding something more specific to your requirements, please complete the form at the bottom of the page and we will glad to be of help.

Alternatively, you may want to consider a cruise on either a
mid-size ship, a small ship or perhaps some kind of larger cruise ship with a much more different kind of Greek cruise line.

Have a good mooch around before deciding on which Greek cruise line you would like to cruise with !

Windstar Cruise Line

Windstar Cruises is ideal for holiday makers andromantics who want a relaxing cruise in a casual, yet luxurious environment. The ambience on the ships is much like a country club--good food, good drinks, and good company. People whohate large cruise ships should like Windstar. Those who expect lots of entertainment and constant activities might not. Anyone who loves water sports, the sea, and just wanting to relax will find Windstara perfect match. Many Windstar passengers are active, experienced cruisers, ranging from 35 to 75. The average age is about 50. The ships allow children, but there areno organized activities to entertain them. Windstar cruisers love the casual ambience, but appreciate the luxury and excellent service. Many passengers are professionals (or retired), with many repeat cruisers.Honeymooners or romantics of all ages are attracted to the appealing Windstar lifestyle, which at times seems like a private yacht.

Star Clippers Cruise Line

The gentle lapping of the waves against a wind-driven hull. A pod of Dolphins playing in the curling bow wave. A salute to a propitious marriage, the wedding of a splendid cruise holiday with the romance of sailing aboard a true Tall Ship. It is this unique combination of sailing tradition and pampered relaxation that is the essence of Star Clippers. For within the setting of a magnificently evocative Tall Ship, is a world for those who seek an authentic sailing adventure without sacrificing creature comforts. These graceful ships fly along the waves, just like the legendary clippers of a century and a-half ago. And this is as much an adventure in highly evolved relaxation as it is in tradition. For though computers have not replaced the skilled hands of the crew in the art of raising sails, don’t expect to become barefoot seamen. Relax and let the crew do the work. Get aboard Star Clipper, Star Flyer or Royal Clipper, the largest true fully-rigged sailing ships in the world today. As thousands of square feet of sail unfurl above you, you’ll feel the elation of those mariners of long ago.

Peter Sommer Cruise Line
The Cruise Ship Almira

Whilst Peter Sommers offers primarily gulet cruises based out of Turkey, he does have one cruise that takes in a few of the Greek Islands, but it is not really a Greek cruise line. They are, I am told, considering opening up gulet cruises in the islands; I'll keep you posted. These are a different kind of holiday, for those who are a little fed up with beach holidays but don't want the full head on 'activity' vacation. Peter Sommer is an English archaeologist, writer, photographer, lecturer and award-winning documentary filmmaker who trekked in Turkey, fell in love with it, and now takes discerning travelers from around the world on his personal treks and gulet cruises each year. Want a truly personal travel experience with a personable, knowledgeable, witty guide, and small groups (maximum 14 on gulet cruises, 16 on the land trip)? Consider joining one of Peter's travel groups. Here's what he writes: "When I first went to Turkey back in 1994, it was to walk 2,000 miles across the country retracing the route of Alexander the Great. In those five months of trekking I fell in love with the land, its ancient ruins, and the warm, hospitable Turkish people." We highly recommend this cruise line as you will almost certainly make friends as well as having a great time.

The people who go on their trips are usually well travelled, enthusiastic, and curious about exploring new countries and cultures. They come from an incredibly wide range of professional backgrounds. Some have never been on an archaeological tour before, others have explored ancient sites all over the world. On average about a quarter of the people on the trips are single travellers. About 40% of guests come from the UK, 40% from the US, with the remaining 20% split between Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and beyond. Many of the people who travel with them first find out about Peter Sommer Travels through personal recommendations. Many clients travel with Peter Sommer again and again. Children are allowed on the escorted family tours but not on 'standard' trips. Naturally, if private groups are chartering a boat or asking to arrange a special custom tour, then children are more than welcome. Peter has a different kind of 'Greek cruise line'.

As stated at the beginning of the page, this is by no means an exhaustive list it is just a sample of what's available in Greek cruise lines, simply a random selection put together to provide visitors some idea of what's available. I do hope it gave you a little inspiration and perhaps whet your 'appetite for a Greek cruise' or maybe it's been of some help.

If you would like some help in deciding which is the right cruise for you, simply fill in the form below and we'll get right back to you. Happy Cruising!
