Greek Salad Recipe

Mmmm...A Greek Salad Recipe

If you have ever been to a Greek restaurant, the chances are that you have tried a Greek salad.

An authentic Greek salad recipe is simplicity personified; whilst being very simple it is one of the tastiest dishes in the world, particularly when you eat it in the sunshine on the side of a tiny Greek harbor. This dish is testament that 'simple can often be best'.

The salad itself consists of fresh ingredients; a robust lettuce to hold the dressing, sweet onions, cucumber for freshness, olives and feta cheese. Green peppers are optional - some might argue that they have no place in a Greek salad.

The dressing can’t be any simpler; extra virgin olive oil (first pressing) and a (red) wine vinegar. Occasionally, you might have it served with a sprinkling of freshly cut mixed herbs.

Here is what you need to do.

Recipe For Greek Salad

Tomatoes cut into big chunks
Slices of sweet onions
Diced peeled cucumber
A handful of olives
Sliced green pepper (optional)
Top with thick slice of creamy Feta Cheese

Dress with finest quality extra virgin olive oil and vinegar

Serve with warm crusty bread

A Greek salad dressing is very easy to make. It is a combination of red wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.

Simply drizzle the oil over the salad followed by the wine vinegar. A ratio of 2-3:1 of oil:vinegar is good.
