Learning how to work from home was a difficult road to travel for me, but now I can tell you how my passion for the Greek Islands helped me to build my website, and get my life back.
Hi, my name is Minky,
I am not an Internet guru, I am a simple middle-aged woman who had her back to the wall, and was forced, because of circumstances, to find another way to survive.
I live with my partner Colin, who I met over 15 years ago when we worked together in England.
We both had good jobs and enjoyed life. Together, we planned to live life to the full and share our time together.
We had lots of things in common, and in particular, we both adored and had a strong passion for the Greek Islands.
Longing to spend as much time together in the Aegean sunshine, we planned our travels to the Greek Islands as often as we could, visiting different islands on each occasion we ventured there.
We particularly like the Dodecanese group of islands, and we often dreamed of buying a home on the Greek Island of Kalymnos; it offers as much for the tourist as it does to the indigenous population.
When we finally got together, we decided we wanted a complete change from city life, so we bought a bistro type restaurant with rooms for B&B in the Snowdonia National Park.
It is the most stunning, beautiful part of the UK, and we worked very hard, running our small business together. By living on the premises, we were learning how to work from home.
In 2001, foot and mouth disease hit the UK, and because the business was in a hot tourist spot which the government put travel restrictions on, the restaurant took a down turn.
All of a sudden, knowing how to work from home didn't make much difference; it wasn't much fun either.
Then, more bad news, suddenly out of the blue, our world fell apart, as Colin was taken seriously ill and ...
...I thought that this was the end!
He had already endured open heart surgery, before we met; and now after being together for a year, he was diagnosed with diabetes, testicular cancer, a blood cancer (lymphoma), all within a period of two years. More recently, he was diagnosed as having heart-failure.
I couldn't cope on my own, running both front of house and the kitchen, and bed and breakfast for our visitors.
I felt as if I was unravelling at the seams, and we had to abandon the restaurant which had become a failing entity, because I alone, couldn't give it the attention it needed.
I eventually found work within the NHS (National Health Service), but things were not easy, coping with work and taking care of Colin.
One day my boss, who was very sympathetic and supportive, said "Minky, you need to learn how to work from home, so that you can be with Colin and work fewer hours".
We put our travel plans on hold, never daring to dream that one day we would have our own little home in the Greek Islands.
I was working such long hours, trying to make ends meet!
I'd heard about people earning money on eBay, with Internet businesses and wished I knew how to work from home so I could earn some money; to be there for Colin and help him get back to better health.
So, I decided to set myself a task, find a way of earning (I felt as though we had our backs against the wall) - how to work from home - and spend my time with Colin.
I didn't have a clue as to where to start, and I spent thousands of dollars - quite a lot of money - buying *broken promises* from all sorts of people telling me how I could earn $millions by working just 2 hours a day.
This of course is preposterous, but when you are desperate to get yourself out of a hole, you will grasp at any straw presented to you, and I did.
The problem is, when you want to know how to work from home as a beginner, or progress your levels of Internet knowledge and earn some honest cash, there are a lot of scams out there that will do nothing for you!
Unfortunately, once you start looking on the web, you come across hundreds of these individuals, but I would implore you not to be sucked in by their outlandish claims.
Take your time, think about things carefully. That's the best advice I can give you.
Eventually, after two years of searching, I came across a programme called SBI, which stands for Site Build It. That was the turning point in my life.
You have available to you, right now, a powerful super-computer. This powerful tool has been used to take people from rags to riches, from poverty and obscurity to success and fame, from unhappiness and frustration to joy and self-fulfillment, and now, it can do the same for YOU! P.S.: It's been a while since I wrote this page, and it's created a surprising amount of feedback and questions about SBI. I thought it's time to add an update and answers to your most common questions.
