Kalymnos Hotels - Themis

Some of the things you can look forward to when choosing from one of several quality Kalymnos hotels, is somewhere that will be comfortable, pleasureable and memorable.

The Themis Hotel will provide all of those things; situated right on the sandy pebble beach at Myrties.

A real bonus is that most of the hotel rooms overlook the beautiful Myrties Bay in the Aegean, towards the tiny, balmy, traffic free island of Telendos.

It's fantastic to go on your balcony when you first arise in the morning, and catch a glimpse of the gorgeous view. Equally, there's nothing nicer than to return to your room after a day on the beach, take a shower and get on the balcony with a large gin and tonic and simply relax and enjoy the panorama

The Themis is a family run hotel, located amongst other tavernas and cafe bars in Myrties, which is a very attractive part of Kalymnos Greece.

Dinner at Themis, overlooking Telendos Island

Themis and her husband have been at 'their Kalymnos hotel' for over 30 years and they have a wealth of experience in making your stay comfortable and relaxing.

Now that their children have grown and have families of their own, Themis enjoys having fun with her grandchildren.

Whilst the rooms are clean, bright and modern, and as I've said, many of them have balconies which look directly over the beach and water, Michael tells us that he is about to do a full refurbishment on the hotel soon. I can't wait to see what Michael does to this super beach-side Kalymnos hotel.

The Hotel is a stones throw from the picturesque Melitsahas harbour which is where all of the local people shelter their boats.

The small fishing boats leave the harbour from very early in the morning through to breakfast time.

You can see them returning while sitting in the restaurant, dining al-fresco, enjoying a wonderful evening meal, all served with some really tasty local wines by Michael and his family.

Water Taxis at the jetty

Further along the beach, a minutes walk away, is the little Jetty at Myrties where you can catch the water taxi to Telendos.

And if you miss one, then you can simply have a cocktail and catch the next, as they run every half hour.

Just make sure you stay sober enough to make the next boat, as it is so easy to get embroiled in fun and 'banter', as Colin and I can testify, after having been caught out on a number of occasions.

Telendos is the island across the bay and it takes just ten minutes or so before you arrive. Once there, you can enjoy lunch or sunbathe on one of the welcoming beaches, before you return for pre-dinner drinks at Themis.

Michael and Early Guest!

Michael, Themis's son is on hand to make things run smoothly and see to all your needs, especially when Mum goes for her daily dip in the sea during the late afternoon sunshine.

After her swim with lifelong friends, she usually returns, taking over her duties once again in the early evening at the Themis.

Colin and I have had many evenings sitting with friends, family or our neighbours having dinner, while watching the breathtaking sun sets that can be seen here in the evenings.

As usual, Michael is the most generous host and has many entertaining stories to tell. The love of his family is very apparent in his fun tales of past guests who have enjoyed their time at Themis; with Michael and his extended family.

One of the nicest things about staying at this fine Kalymnos hotel, The Themis, is that as well as having its own private little section of shoreline right on Myrties Beach, which is close to other bars and tavernas.

If you happen to wander into Nefelis, the Smugglers or one of the other local establishments, you may find Michael entertaining some of his guests or other taverna owners with his great sense of humour and fine Greek 'bonhomie'.

I am quite sure you will enjoy your stay at The Kalymnos Hotel, Themis - Go on...get it booked, you won't be disappointed - and you deserve it!
