Kos Beaches

Kos beaches are some of the best  in the Greek Islands. From Troulos beach near Mastichari to Kefalos on the east coast of Kos, the Kos beaches are beautiful.

Kos Town

As we have mentioned previously on this website, Kos Town has two main beaches, Lambi, which is a little quieter and another, which is a bit more pebbly.  Both are really nice with excellent sunbathing facilities or water sports and close to the harbour or marina. These are not the quietest of beaches, particularly in mid summer but if you like being close to other people, you will really enjoy basking here and looking at the deep blue Aegean Sea.

Kefalos

Kefalos has a long, long beach with mounds and mounds of beautiful sand. At the top end of the resort is the wonderful Paradise beach with lots of activity and water sports. Kefalos beach is on a curved bay and is edged by fab tavernas most specialising in fresh fish dishes and Greek cuisine that you will really enjoy. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for your enjoyment. I have stayed here many times and the facilities are wonderful.  Even the most basic of apartments are clean and minutes from the main centre of Kefalos.

Kardamena

On the west side of Kos is the resort of Kardamena.  From the little port, the sandy beach runs for about 3 or 4 kilometres and really is quite a divine stretch of sand. The super Aegean sea is cold but wonderful for cooling down on a hot summers day. There are great tavernas and shops close by and the bars are popular too. The area is agreeable to younger visitors and is a real fun resort. Kardamena is one of the liveliest of Kos beaches.

Mastichari

This idyllic resort is on the east side of the island and is known for its ferry port and also for its lovely beach.  There is a lovely stretch of sand from where you can look across to Bodrum, Turkey and on a clear day you can see forever.  The beach is mostly sandy and a little bit of shingle thrown in for good measure.  The sea is crystal clear and you can watch a brilliant sunset from this beach which will stay in your heart forever.  The beach is surrounded by great tavernas with lovely fresh fish on the menu and all very reasonable value for money.
