The Sporades map illustrates a region of the Northern Aegean which is regarded as an amalgamation of inadequately linked large islands and mainland seaports, together with an easily reached small Sporades chain.
Travel is either exceptionally simple or tremendously challenging depending upon where you are. The straightforward part consists of the small forested islands off the coast of Evia: namely, Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnisos and Skyros. These are linked by a really good hydrofoil service.
The remainder of the northern network requires a lot more time to negotiate all of the region and really, can only be navigated by those with more than a couple of weeks at their disposal.
In the low season the lack of ferries running north of Lesbos restricts non-Sporades options.
